HOW IT ALL STARTED
Raised in Bakersfield, owner Hector Miranda served in the military for 19 years before his medical retirement.
While in the service, he found that coffee has an amazing way of connecting people, starting conversations, and building relationships.
During his travels, he also experienced how important coffee is in other cultures. Then, after retirement, he spent time in Miami's Calle Ocho, studying Cuban culture and foods. In Boston, he came across a welcoming, family-oriented Italian coffee shop that inspired him to think about starting his own shop.
He saw Bakersfield had a need for a coffee shop to represent many cultures and flavors that could evoke an emotional response.
Hector is now looking forward to sharing some of his world travel experiences through coffee.
At Adventure Awaits Coffee Shop, Hector and his team are serving Cuban coffee, with plans to bring in coffee from Mexico, Vietnam, Turkey, and more.
